Spectrophotometry is the quantitative measurement of the reflection or transmission properties of a material as a function of wavelength. A Spectrophotometer is an instrument used to determine the intensity of various wavelengths in a spectrum of light and is commonly used for the measurement of reflective surfaces. A Spectrophotometer is used in textiles, paper, plastics, coatings, chemicals, paint and automotives. It is also used in physics, materials science, chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology. They are widely used in many industries including semiconductors, laser and optical manufacturing, printing and forensic examination and in labs for the study of chemical substances.
